Risk, Data, and the Road Ahead for Community Financial Institutions

In this end-of-year reflection, Lumio CEO Ed Vincent shares his perspective on the evolving role of data, risk, and intelligence in community financial institutions. He explores key lessons from 2025 and what leaders should prioritize as they prepare for the year ahead.

Thank you for continuing on this journey with Lumio.

At the heart of Lumio’s strategy—and my personal conviction—are two beliefs: risk data is bank data, and data is the currency of the future.

Enterprise risk management has always been about breaking down silos—operationally, culturally, and analytically. In practice, ERM is not the responsibility of a single function. Risk and strategy are two sides of the same coin, embedded in every operational and strategic decision made by boards, executives, management teams, and the first line.

In early 2025, SRA Watchtower acquired Lumio Insight with a shared thesis: community financial institutions need a more unified, usable view of their data to operate efficiently and compete effectively.

Throughout the year, Lumio made meaningful progress toward that vision. We advanced our platform to bring financial, deposit, loan, and customer insights together in a single environment, strengthened integrations with core and general ledger systems, and expanded support for governance, reporting, and emerging risk use cases. Just as importantly, we unified our identity under a single name—Lumio—reflecting our commitment to enlightening, empowering, and equipping CFIs with actionable intelligence.

We are not finished.

In 2026, you will see more data flowing seamlessly through Lumio—ranging from ALM and economic indicators to budgets and enriched transactions—allowing teams to spend less time wrangling data and more time engaging productively with clients. Risk indicators and performance metrics will live side-by-side in configurable, role-based dashboards, accessible across the organization. And with your partnership and feedback, we will begin piloting AI-powered insights, built with safety and security at the forefront.

Risk data is simply another view of bank data. Data is the currency of the future—and that future is rapidly approaching. The institutions that harness their data most efficiently and effectively will be best positioned to win.

I believe deeply that local economies power this country, CFIs power local economies, and Lumio is uniquely equipped to power CFIs. Thank you for trusting Lumio as your partner in 2026 and beyond.
